Can I overcome driving anxiety or will it always be there?

I experienced an awful anxiety attack on the freeway about 6 months ago. After that my panick increased every time I drove. Is it possible to overcome this fear?

  1. Cristy … driving in a large metropolitan area is usually challenging for most people. In traffic jams, especially when it’s hot, claustrophobia can set in. Trying to find less congested routes may be worth the effort even if it takes a little longer to get where you want to. Of course altering your travel time of day can also make a huge difference. Perhaps in some circumstances car pooling or public transportation can help. At any rate, driving confidence usually improves with time. Consider taking a professional driving course to boost your confidence. Proper diet, exercise and quality sleep help relieve pent up stress. If a particular driving situation causes fear, then research online (google) the proper driving solution, and practice under lesser traffic or no traffic conditions. Take care ! Chip
