I’m 16 and have anxiety. I’ve been getting really anxious out of nowhere lately. I used to be on anti-anxiety medicine, but I don’t want to go back to that; I want to try something more natural. I’ve heard Omega 3 fish oil helps with anxiety, and I’ve also heard B-vitamins help. I have three questions:
1. Does Omega 3 fish oil help with anxiety? If so, what is the dosage I take? I’ve heard that fish oil can also cause anxiety, so it kind of scares me.
2. What B-vitamins work best? I’ve heard B12 vitamins are the best.
3. Could I take the Omega 3 fish oil and the B12 vitamins at the same time?
Thanks!!!

Omega 3 is a good all around supplement. I recommend it highly, just follow the dosage on the bottle. For anxiety, it maybe worth looking into St. John’s Wort. It’s widely considered one of the best homeopathic products for balancing moods.
i’m not sure fish oil will help anxiety, i heard they’re only for anti-aging. i’m a really anxious person as well, but i try to cope with my constant anxiety by resting and meditating
Take at least 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, or the recommended dose of a high quality fish oil daily, like Carlsons or Melrose (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or its FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it!
Females may benefit by balancing the DHA, & EPA versions of Omega 3 in fish, or krill oil with ALA flaxseed oil Omega 3, or at least one heaped tablespoonful of ground flaxseed, daily. Dr. Mercola rates “krill oil” much higher than fish oil, because it is far less easily oxidised, so you may want to check this out for yourself through the searchbar at mercola.com Vegetarians & vegans: Google: “Omega 3; algae; supplies” and use it with flaxseed.
Effective natural treatment for anxiety is shown at http://your-mental-health.8m.com/blank_25.html and page i. Much about vitamins is shown there.
Passionflower (as directed, or 1 drop in a cup of warm water, 4 times daily; view http://altmedicine.about.com/od/anxiety/a/passionflower_benefits.htm?nl=1 ) may be helpful, short term, with other herbal remedies shown at http://www.online-herbal-remedies.com/herbs-for-anxiety.html
I’d avoid medications, except as a last resort, and even then, only use temporarily, as they don’t address the causes, merely (imperfectly) treat the symptoms, and carry risks, and side effects. Learn and employ the relaxation techniques (begin with Progressive Muscle Relaxation) and the EFT variant for use in public places, in case it is needed there.
B12 & B6 are harmful in excess. I get shots of B12 every 6 months; you may prefer sublingual sprays; Google supplies. Forget oral use! View http://www.mercola.com VITAMIN B12
