I have a driving test in 3 weeks time, the only problem is I am suffering bad anxiety at the moment, do you think I would be better putting my test of until i get help for my anxiety or is there a way i can manage my anxiety on the test day so that i don’t get too nervous, is there any techniques i could use to reduce the anxiety on test day?

Just pray and ask God to comfort you.
Just practice and practice some more. It’s normal to be nervous. Just make sure you use the car that you learned on and that you have a good idea about what they are going to ask you to do – it can differ by state. They didn’t make me parallel park but they may make you. You’ll be fine. If you fail, you can take it again the next day and no one has to know! Have fun and good luck!
here’s what I used for my lil sis.
ate lunch, grabbed coffee. She’s now full and relaxed. Dropped some tunes and turned them up and I had her drive and talk to me about random nonsense to distract her conscience, like they do to atheletes, it disguises the anxiety. Then just drive and drive – u know cruise the hood and relax. Do this a few times- but always use the same songs, same CD. Enjoy the moment. Now remember that when u jump in the car for the test, humm those songs u were hearing and it will make your mind recollect those rides and ease your anxiety.
yeah.. thats hard.. take your time..take baths.. walk.. relax.. best regards
I had the same thing when I went for my test on the 7th.
I went the first time on March 26th, I was a little nervous, went through the test fine until I failed because some moron didn’t give me the right of way. On April 7th I went again and I was SOO nervous. I bawled my eyes out an hour before, it was raining, there was an accident at one end of the town and road construction on the other. But I did just fine and I passed. The instructors KNOW your nervous.
When I was in the car with the instructor I kept telling myself that he was just some guy who was giving directions to his house and I had to drop him off. When that didnt work I told myself, Hey no one knows me in this place anyway so whatever.
Back to your question.
Deep Breathing, and just put your mind somewhere else. The more you think about it the more nervous you will get. And I don’t recommend putting it off, you’ll always be nervous about it and you’ll never be ready for it until test day.
Just think, years from now, you’ll be telling your kids how you did on the test.
=)
I was SO nervous when I took my driving test. But, as soon as I started to drive, things calmed down. The guy testing me was barely even paying attention. If you think about it, he’s just a lazy government worker who has been doing this for years and years, day after day. Nothing is new to him/ her.I wasn’t even sure if I was going to pass, and I ended up passing every section! They usually allow you to try parallel parking twice, too.
I say go for it even if you’re nervous. That’s what I did, and it worked out just fine.
It’s normal to be very nervous, I am generally a very nervous guy (even going to meet friends I get very nervous). Doing the driving test was horrible, I hated that whole time (learning, taking the test, failing and then waiting for the re-take).
It’s just something you’re going to have to do. It will be horrible but you may as well do it as early as possible. It will be over eventually and lemme tell you the relief, knowing you never have to go through that again, is like no other.
