Steven Brownlow, a Clinical Psychological specialist who has focused on treating the emotional anomalies and disruptive behaviour of teen males since 1981, confirmed the publication of his new book Feelings in Psychology and Psychotherapy. The book will appear both in printed paperback form and in Kindle and Nook formats. Doctor.
Brownlow explained that he wrote the book looking to change the way feelings are viewed and counseling is performed. “Scientific studies over the last twenty years or so have given us a lot of understanding of how emotions work that gainsays a lot of current concepts about counselling and popular conceptions about emotion. “Some of the people never trust their emotions and some always do,” he announced.
“Some of the people believe that they have to 'get it out' when they have painful feelings, and others think treating emotional distress is as easy as changing your thinking. Many counselors desire folk to talk about their feelings, not really knowing why they should or how that might help. Others just want their feelings to disappear.” . As the book demonstrates, the right answers are slightly more convoluted, though Dr. Brownlow believes the underlying principles are simple . He believes that any person should be in a position to improve their lives and the lives of others by applying what he is written.
