My mom has been having trouble sleeping for a while now. She screams and kicks in the night and obviously that keeps not only her from having a good nights sleep but my dad and the rest of the family as well. She says she has nightmares but she doesnt realize shes making so much noise. Shes taken vitamins and melatonnin and it doesnt help. She is a little heavy and has a reputation of depression. We are all trying to support her but at the same time we have jobs school and other things we need to get sleep for. She gets upset because my dad wakes her up and tells her to walk around and break the pattern.
Does anyone know what it might be thats causing her to toss and turn? What we can do to help her sleep? or What she needs to do or stop doing to sleep better?

I have terrible panic attacks in my sleep (thanks to the drug Versed that was given to me w/o my knowledge or permission.) I see a psychatrist and a therapist and am on all kids of medication. Your mother probably needs anti anxiety medicine and maybe a sleeping pill. I take Wellbutrin, Lexapro and Temazepam. All work very well for me. If I do have an Anxiety attack in my sleep I take Xanex to calm down or if it’s very bad, I have Ativan.
Good luck!!
get her some medicinal pot that always works
if you dont believe me because of your own beliefs your out of luck
Well first of all get her a psychotherapist (not psychiatrist, they think drugs fix everything) or some kind of counsel to look for the root of the problem.
(1)In the mean time get a chunk of Celestine (aka Celestite) that she can put near the head of her bed or under her pillow. I am not sure why but having this stone near you while you sleep nearly eliminates nightmares for many people.
Celestine is a pale blue mineral that is relatively inexpensive and generally feels fairly calming to most people. My sister used to have violent night terrors at least once a month. I put a chunk of Celestine in her pillow with no further explanation and within a few days she said her dreams were less frightening and over the next year her night terrors pretty much became a memory. (Note: I do not advocate hiding rocks in or under people’s pillows without their consent, especially people who thrash in their sleep)
I myself have noticed that my dreams are clearer and more pleasant when I sleep near this stone, and I have never had a nightmare when it is around (despite a long history of them).
I am not sure why this stone does what it does, but many spiritual people say it is strongly associated with angels and being of that sort. Whether you believe that or not is entirely personal and somewhat irrelevant. Falling still hurts whether or not you believe in gravity.
(2) Dedicate 10 minutes before bed to unwind with simple meditation. Simple, slow, steady breathing can do wonders for your stress level, which can do wonders for your dreams/sleep.
(3) Play quiet music while you sleep. It doesn’t have to be loud; in fact it can be barely audible if you find it hard to sleep with noise around. Just swing by wall mart and grab a couple albums of the soothing classical variety. They are usually rather cheap and well worth it even if you are not normally a fan of classical music (remember you’re picking something for your subconscious to listen to).
(4) If all else fails, then get yourself a good exorcist, if that fails you could go to a drug dealer(psychiatrist).
