very overwhelmed lately.. tips for calming myself down.. and managing anxiety and stress?

school started for me last week.. earlier than everyone else.. and my new schedule is very hectic.
i go to school monday-thursday from 9am-5pm and then i work until 10pm
friday and saturday i took off completely. and sunday i work from 10am-6.30pm
i feel very overwhelmed, but cutting my work hours is out of the question because i already cut them down for school.
anybody have any tips for dealing with the stress . other than pulling my hair out!?
should i start doing yoga on fridays and saturdays after i do my school work?
is there anything i should do during the week between classes, or during travel time just to keep myself from going crazy?
any advice would be very very much appreciated :)
thankssss

  1. Yoga is wonderful in many ways in that not only do you feel the physical benefits from it but the mental as well. When you start your Yoga practice one thing that you will learn is the Yoga breath… this helps you to relax your mind from the stresses and after awhile you will start being able to tune into this regularly. Your body and mind will thank you for it

  2. What always helped me was doing aerobic exercise. Jogging is great, swimming is even better (but you have to find a pool!)

Also, sex helps. Sex helps a lot. No matter how crappy of a day I had at work/school, it clears my mind and gives me the feeling that everything is O.K. and not to stress over the petty rat race.

One thing you could do is look for a part-time internship (depending on your background). I got an internship with an engineering company and they pay me 21.88 / hour, work around my school schedule, etc. Right now I’m doing around 25 / week and it’s not bad at all.

  3. If you will make some time even 30 min a day and take a bubble bath ,listen to some soft music and have a glass of wine, play a video game,or just chill but make time for yourself it makes all the difference also get plenty of sleep and eat well. You will fall into a schedule soon and adjust. And you are very wwwwelcome :-)

  4. 1. Organize your school work
    2. Plan ahead
    3. Give yourself an hour of “alone time” where you can just breathe.
    4. Eat healthy

If this doesn’t work, contact a physiologist.

  5. There are many things to try, but I just want to give you one that hasn’t been mentioned yet :) Try listening to a “book on tape/cd” while you’re in between class, work, shopping, etc. Sometimes its hard to sit down and read a book, but in your car it will get your brain stimulated and keep you busy thinking about it instead of your stressful life. Pick whatever book you like, it will be different than listening to music, but different in a good way.

Of coarse there are many other things you can do, but dont pull your hair out….that will just make you look stupid AND crazy…..

  6. There are a lot of things you can do…

    1) Bubble Baths
    2) Get a pet (like a kitten)
    3) Eat really healthy (veggies galore) – if you don’t you may start packing on the pounds on top of everything else.
    4) Read between classes, like adventure novels or mysteries… it takes your mind off of everything else.
    5) Find a new hobby, like baking or cooking this allows you to focus you attention on something else… it’s an outlet for stress.
    6) Listen to soft piano music, it’s very soothing and not so “loud” as other music can be… especially when you are stressed.

Lastly, just know that everyone experiences this. I did, and it was hard to get into the groove of things. But you will figure out what works for you soon enough…

    Good Luck!
