None, just go get a real prescription. I tried natural supplements for depression and they had horrible effects on me. The best natural thing for you is sunlight, it helps with just about everything.
I second the first answer, there are no over the counter medications or natural remedies for anxiety and the best answer to be seen and evaluated, best if by a mental health specialist because there are many nonmedical therapies for anxiety. A general practioner is more likely just to start medications, which may be necessary but I dont know your case. There are things you can AVOID that may be triggers for anxiety/depression and those are caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and obviously iilicit drugs. Also studies have shown that regular exercise definitely plays a role is helping to control anxiety. I hope that helps.

Irena, I pose the question back to you….do you have scientific evidence to support that there are natural supplements that are beneficial in the treatment of anxiety? I do have lots of evidence based medical articles that support prescription medications (SSRIs and benzodiazepines) are beneficial in the treatment of anxiety. Furthermore, last I checked there are no herbal/alternative medications that are FDA approved for the treatment of anxiety and last I checked the FDA is the governing body in the United States for the administration of medications. If you would like medical literature (if you even have the capacity to understand it), there is a very nice synapsis of all the adverse effects of alternative medications (st johns wort specifically) Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, 2004, nov;65 (11): 1479-9.
I am not sure if I will even waste much time commenting on your second rude and uneducated comment. Obviously psychiatric illness is difficult to evaluate with objective tools because there is no “test” or “scan” to diagnosis them but there is a system (the DM-IV) in which the experts that are much smarter than both of us, devised criteria to diagnosis psychiatric illness. Also a psychologist can do an array of psychologic testing and analysis, although again nothing is absolute. This is what we have in the medical world (and I have a M.D. to back these comments), but as with anything in life, there are many inherent flaws and I would never defend or say otherwise. This is why we practice “evidence based medicine” so if you want to come to me asking about evidence, why dont you offer some of your own.
I did point out there are nonmedical way (dietary, exercise, etc) to manage anxiety. I gave my educated medical opinion and advice and just like any one of my patients, you can take that for what it is worth to you.
Your first two answers are wrong. Medicine may asssit in solving one problem but causes another. ie; liver damage.
If you’re drinking coffee or soda pop STOP! Not sure why people with anxiety think they can drink this stuff.
Also, Passion Flower works good. St. John’s Wort. It just takes days and weeks before it starts working.
Google a good diet for people with anxiety and also how to breathe properly.
People are so lazy these days. They just want a pill for everything. Taking care of ourselvs and solving health issues takes a little work.
St. Johns Wort supplements really helped me. CVS is not the best place for natural supplements. I suggest going to a natural foods store like whole foods and getting some supplements there. Happy Camper tabs really help me alot and I get them at Whole Foods. Good luck! and Relax
Those products must have FDA approval label on them and must be truthful about it.

A lot are sold with out the FDA approval, and they can not investigate every one of them because they don’t have the manpower to regulate them all.
If you feel a peak of anxiety and need to calm down, just have a glass of whiskey or brandy. You are not going to find anything as strong as that on a drugstore shelf.
My customers give me good feedback on Bach Rescue Remedy Spray. {flower essences – not sure if available at CVS} … a product I’ve sold for 10 years.
I usually drink de-caf Green Tea when I’m anxious…for me, it clears my head.
Are you getting enough sleep at night?
Are you over-scheduled?
Is there a personal issue that a trusted friend or family could help you with? Remember we are body, mind, and soul…and we should nurture all 3 for total wellness.
Tim-do you have objective scientific evidence that there are no natural remedies for anxiety or was that just a mere opinion?
When they “evaluate” him will they use objective, scientific testing and evidence to find his diaghosis or will it be purely subjective? AKA guesswork by flawed individuals with their own problems with their perceptions clouded by that plus other human factors,
When i get an attack, i smoke one. Not enough to get me high, if it is not the weekend, i probably do not have the time for that, but just enough for the attack to calm down. It works wonders.
There are none – go see a Dr. and get a scrip for something. “Herbal” and “natural” treatments are a load of crap.
In my personal opinion you shouldn’t even bother with supplements because they usually don’t work. A far better alternative is to use this http://www.easyanxietycure.org/anxiety it is an all natural technique for removing all anxiety and depression. I have used it myself to destroy my own anxiety and can honestly say that it is probably the most powerful thing i have ever come across for relieving anxiety
Try a high potency multivitamin and probiotics– the gut brain connect, when your gut is happy so is your brain. 5htp– increases serotonin, try 50- 100 mg at night. St Johns wort 300mg, Niacin 500 mg– it targets the same receptors in your brain and benzo drugs. Vitamin B6– increases serotonin. PharmaGABA 100 mg daily twice daily or regular GABA 500 mg twice daily, Calcium and Magnesium– at night if you need help with sleep. Inositol 5g.
Try them all out and find out which ones work for you, it will take at least a week before you notice an effect and it will gradually increase from there on. All of these things are safe to combine but try adding one thing on at a time in order to for you to know what works for you and what doesn’t.
Actually, rather than a supplement you might try EFT tapping. Human bodies actually have electrical circuits running through them (nervous system) and tapping on certain areas “resets” them. That will help calm you. If you choose to take a supplement too, Vit B complex helps calm you as well as St. John’s Wort. Another wonderful calming tools is an EMF protection device like a qlink or a shuzi. They have a faster effect than any supplement.
i have really bad anxiety, and i’ve noticed an improvement since i started taking 5-HTP. It’s a natural chemical that is structurally similar to serotonin (the chemical in your brain that promotes “good” feelings) In your body, the 5-HTP can be hydroxylized to become serotonin.
Sorry, but i’m a huge bio/chem nerd! lol i researched a few natural supplements before i came across this one, and it makes the most sense that it would actually work.
A good way of expelling this from your intellect is thru hypnosis.
